How to close a room at a lifestyle party

A closed door is part of the invite. Say which rooms are in, and treat every other door as shut.
The short answer
Before the first guest, name the rooms that are open: where people talk, where coats go, and where a private door is allowed if the night has one. Everything else stays shut. You do not explain the shut rooms, and you do not give a tour of the house.
One private link per couple. The link is not a map of every door. Put the open rooms in the house rules, in one line, and say them again at the door. Guests agree to that line before they say yes or no to anyone. If you change the line, they agree again.
Adult only. Private by design. You confirm you are 18 or older. Only the host checks people in. They show a door code or a QR pass. They cannot check themselves in. A shut door is not a suggestion to try the handle. When you are ready to host, start from the host home. The hosting help walks through the rules and the door.
Name the open rooms once
Kitchen, living room, one bedroom, the bathroom. If a room is not on that list, it is closed. Write it the way you would say it to a friend who has never been in the house. A paragraph about the floor plan is how people get it wrong.
The only bathroom stays available. A closed bedroom is not the bathroom. Say which door is which so nobody has to guess. Point when they arrive. A guest should not have to open three doors to find a sink.
If the night is social until a time you named, the play room stays shut until then. Opening it early because two people wandered in is how the plan changes without a yes. The street stays hidden until you release it. The room list can live with the real party name. Email still uses a public-safe name, or Your event.
A shut door stays shut
Guests do not open a shut door to see what is on the other side. They do not borrow a room you did not offer. Curiosity is not a yes. A private no stays private. You do not have to say whose room it is or why it is shut. "That door stays closed" is the whole sentence.
If you find someone in a closed room, the night pauses there. Ask them to come out. If they argue, the door is still yours, and you can ask them to leave. Say it once, in a normal voice. The room is not a negotiation.
A lock is clearer than a hope, when you can use one. Say the rule anyway, because a lock can be missed. A co-host can help you watch the door. They cannot delete the party or remove you as the original host. Guests still cannot check themselves in.
The format does not open extra doors
A name appears only when both people said yes. That name is not a key to every room in the house. Same room or a separate room is a choice you already wrote down. It does not add a third room you meant to keep shut.
A key party is one shared reveal. The host starts it. Phones wait about ten seconds. The room sees one person, and only if both people said yes. Later rounds are still one person at a time. The reveal happens in the room you opened. It does not unlock the rest of the house.
A play party waits until the host closes the answers, checks people in, and then opens the matches. Checking someone in does not open the names. Each guest sees one person at a time. A speed date is short rounds, then yes or no, and people stay dressed. A new party starts at five minutes a round. A match needs both couples to say yes. None of those nights adds a door you closed.
FAQ
Do I have to say why a room is closed?
No. Name the rooms that are open. A closed door does not need a story.
What if someone needs the bathroom?
Point to the bathroom when they arrive. A closed bedroom is not a backup bathroom.
Can two couples use a room I did not open?
Only if you open it, out loud, before they use it. A match is not permission to pick a door. A name appears only when both people said yes, and that still does not open a shut room.
Should I lock the closed rooms?
If you can, yes. A lock is clearer than a hope. Say the rule anyway, because a lock can be missed.
Is this the same as same room versus separate room?
No. That choice is where a yes happens. This page is the rest of the house, which stays out of the night.
What if a guest keeps trying the handle?
Say the door stays closed, once, in a normal voice. If they do it again, ask them to leave. The room is not a negotiation.
When the list is ready, you can host a key party, host a play party, or host a couples speed date. You can start hosting from your own list.
