Pineapple Play Date

Adult only. Private by design.

First play party etiquette

A dressed couple in a kitchen at night, coats on the chairs, talking before they leave.

The first play party is easier when the manners are boring and the yes is specific. You already know who was invited. You do not have to perform curiosity for a room you have never met.

The short answer

Your host invites friends. The host invites friends they'd love to have there. You see that list before the night. Adult only. Private by design.

Say yes in private, and only where you mean it. A private no stays private. All mutual-yes matches are revealed when the host checks you in. There is no room-wide Round 1 on a play party. That shared reveal belongs to a key party.

A match is a person who also said yes. It is not a schedule, and it is not permission for a specific act. Ask. Stop when someone stops. Leave when either of you wants the car.

Before you leave the house

Have the talk on the couch, not in the driveway. Name the ceiling: soft or full, and that the lower yes wins. Name whether you stay where you can see each other. Name the word that ends the scene, the room, or the whole night. If you cannot say it at home, you will not say it in a hallway.

Read the invite together. If singles are a no, the invite should already say couples only. If a name on the list would ruin the night, tell the host early. You can still decline. A private list does not expire because you needed a second talk.

Eat before you dress. Decide the time you will leave, and who is driving. Confirm you are 18 or older on the link. Add a name and a photo you are willing for invited guests to see.

How to say yes without making it weird

Each card is one photo and one name. Your own partner is never a card. Yes means you want that person as a match if they also say yes. You can change an answer until answers lock. Partners can compare answers before the deadline if you both left that on. Do not grab your partner's phone to audit them.

Do not announce a no in the group chat, and do not ask other guests how they answered. The chat is for timing, the door, and a little heat. Guests do not message each other in private. If you need the host, use Message host. That note stays with the host and co-hosts.

Agree to the house rules before you answer. If the host edits them, agree to the new version. If a rule you need is missing, ask before the night, not from the couch after clothes are a question.

Consent at a lifestyle party

At the door

The street stays back until the host sends it. Show the door code or the QR pass. Only the host checks people in. That check-in is what opens your mutual matches. You see them one person at a time. You do not get a board of the whole room.

Say hello to the host first. Stand with your partner for the first few minutes. Water is allowed. If the night already feels wrong, say so before you are checked in. You do not owe an explanation.

Phones stay where the house rules put them. A photo of a guest is a hard no unless that guest and the host both said otherwise, and most houses never say otherwise. The group chat is not a camera roll.

In the room

Introduce yourselves with the names on the cards. Ask before you touch, even when a match is already on your phone. A mutual yes got you a conversation. The next yes is spoken, and it can be smaller than the ceiling.

The living room may have a clothes rule that the bedroom does not. Follow the room you are standing in. If you and your partner disagree in the moment, you stop. You do not take it to the group for a ruling. The host can end an interaction that breaks a house rule. The host is not a referee for your relationship.

Watching is a full way to spend the night if you said that was the plan. Hovering in a doorway is not the same thing. If a door is closed, it is closed. If someone goes quiet, treat that as a stop.

How to say no at a party

How you leave

Leave with the plan you made at home. If one of you wants the car, you both go. Thank the host on the way out. You do not need a recap for the room.

The ride home is for a short check, not a trial. What did you like. What do you never want again. Save the longer talk for the kitchen, when you are both fed and neither of you is performing calm.

If you want a different shape next time, say it then. A key party is the night with one shared Play Partner. A speed date is the night where you talk in rounds before anyone wants a room. A play party is the one you just left: matches at check-in, and the manners above.

FAQ

What is different about a first play party?

You have not learned this host's rooms yet. Read the rules, keep the first yes small, and leave on the plan you made at home.

Does a match mean we have to play?

No. A match means you both said yes to each other. The next step is a conversation. Either of you can stop, and a smaller yes is still a yes.

Should we pick soft or full before we go?

Yes. Name the ceiling at home. The lower yes wins. If you have not agreed, a speed date is the slower night, and this one can wait.

Who checks us in?

Only the host. Check-in is what opens your mutual matches. If you are sitting out, say so before that happens.

Can we change our minds in the car?

Yes. Tell the host. You can skip check-in. A private list will still be there after you have talked again.
