Pineapple Play Date

Adult only. Private by design.

What happens at the end of the night

A dressed couple on a sofa as the night winds down, warm candlelight, a closed door behind them.

Your host invites friends, and the night has a last page. All mutual-yes matches are revealed. Then you say goodnight, and you leave the address out of the thank you.

The short answer

The end of the night is the reveal, a little time after it, and a clean goodbye. The host invites friends they'd love to have there. One private link per couple. When the host is ready, all mutual-yes matches are revealed.

What you do with a match is yours. A hello, a longer talk, a slow walk to the door. The card told you the yes went both ways. It did not write the rest of the evening. You and your partner still leave together.

Adult only. Private by design. You confirmed you are 18 or older when you joined. The host still checked you in. The last hour does not loosen either of those.

How the night closes

Read this before you are standing in the hall with your coat half on. The close is short if you know the order. The feeling can be big. The steps are plain.

  1. The host reaches the reveal. All mutual-yes matches are revealed. On a key party that is one shared moment. On a play party the matches opened at check-in. On a speed date they appear when the rounds end.
  2. You see the names where the yes went both ways. A key party shows one Play Partner: one photo and one name. A play party can show more than one. A speed date shows the couples where both sides said yes.
  3. A match is a hello. You can talk, you can take the rest of the hour slowly, or you can head for the coat. House rules still hold.
  4. Leave with the person you came with. Thank the host at the door. The group chat can hold a goodbye. It does not hold a ranking.
  5. The next day, send a short thank you. Leave out the street, the door code, and the names from the reveal. The night stays in the app.

The reveal

Your host starts it. Phones come up together, or they already came up at the door, depending on the night you were invited to. All mutual-yes matches are revealed. You see your matches. The room does not get a chart of everyone else's evening.

On a key party, every match where you both said yes is revealed at the same time. You see one Play Partner: one photo and one name. No one is paired with someone they did not pick. If both of you sent a super yes, the card can say so. That is extra warmth on a yes that already went both ways.

On a play party, mutual matches were revealed when the host checked that guest in. The end of the night is the house getting quieter, not a second reveal. On a speed date, you sat the rounds first. The cards appear when the host ends them. You see the couples where the yes went both ways.

Take a breath before you speak. Look at your partner. The two of you can smile, or you can need a minute in the hall. Either one is a fine start to the last hour.

The last hour

A match is an invitation to say hello, at the pace the two of you already chose. If you wanted to talk, talk. If you wanted the night to stay at conversation, stay there. If you wanted more and the other couple does too, the house rules you agreed to are still the ceiling. Anyone can slow down after a name appears.

Find your partner before you find the match. A look across the room is enough for some couples. A sentence in the kitchen is enough for others. You came as a pair. The last hour is easier when you are still a pair.

Phones go down again after you have seen the card. A photo of the room, the list, or the match does not belong in the camera roll. The group chat can say the night was good. Names from the reveal stay off it. Message host if you need the host. That note is private.

Water, a coat, and a clear end time. If the invite said midnight, midnight is a kindness, especially for people with a drive. Lingering because the song is good is lovely. Lingering because nobody said the night was over leaves guests guessing in the doorway.

Three nights, three endings

A key party ends on one shared gasp and then the room. People look up together. After that, the hello is personal. The host is not walking around announcing pairs. The card already did that.

A play party has been opening matches since check-in. By the last hour, some people have already talked and some have stayed in the kitchen the whole time. Both of those are the night working. The end is coats, a thank you, and the lights.

A speed date ends when the rounds end. You have been in chairs. The reveal is the first time the yeses meet. Give the room a few minutes before everyone stands for the door at once. A short goodbye at the table you liked is plenty.

The goodbye

Thank the host in person. They held the list, the clock, and the door. A sentence is enough. You do not owe a speech, and you do not owe a review of the matches.

Leave with the person you came with. If one of you is ready and the other is still in a conversation, wait. The car is the place for the two of you. The porch is not the place for a debrief the next couple can hear.

Check the small bag before you go. Phone, coat, both shoes. A host should not find a wrap on the stair in the morning and wonder whose it was. If you brought a bottle, you do not need to collect the empty.

The ride home

Ask each other what you liked before you sort anyone else. The drive is for the two of you. A match can be a happy thing to name. A quiet car can be a happy thing too. You do not have to decide the next party before you reach the freeway.

If something crossed a line, Message host while it is fresh. Facts, in a private note. The host and co-hosts see it. The group chat does not need that story at midnight.

The street stays out of the texts you send from the car. So does the door code. So do the names on the card. All mutual-yes matches are revealed in the app. That is where they stay. A thank you can wait until morning if the drive needs quiet.

The next morning

Breakfast is a better editor than midnight. Say what you would do again, and what you would change, while the coffee is still the point. If you both want another night, tell the host in a day or two. If you want a different format, say which one. A key party, a play party, and a speed date are three different closes.

A short thank you to the host is the whole public leftover. "We had a good night" is complete. Leave the neighborhood out if you can. Leave the street out either way. The real party name stays in the app. Email and the thank you can say Your event, or nothing more specific than a warm line.

If a match is someone you will see in ordinary life, be ordinary. A nod, a hello, the same manners you had before the card. The reveal was private. The grocery store is not a second reveal. Your host invited friends. Treat the morning like those friends still live in the same city.
