How to introduce yourselves at a party

Say the names you want used, before anyone guesses.
The short answer
An introduction is two names and one sentence. Say what you go by, and say whether you came to talk first. Do not give a speech. Do not give a last name, a workplace, or a street.
Your host invites friends. The host invites friends they'd love to have there. One private link per couple. The host already knows who is on the list. The introduction is for the room, not a second application.
Adult only. Private by design. You confirm you are 18 or older. The host still checks you in. A private no stays private.
Use the names you agreed on
Agree in the car. If one of you wants a different name in the room than at home, that is the name you say. Your partner uses it too. Correct a slip once, quietly, and move on.
Offer your names. Do not ask for a last name, a job, or where someone lives. If they offer more, you still do not repeat it later to someone who was not in that conversation.
A hello is not a request. You can meet people and still play with nobody. Saying yes to the invite is not a yes to play.
At the door, then in the room
The host checks you in. You do not introduce the host to the house. They invited the list. After the door, a short hello to the people nearest you is enough: the two names, and that you are together.
If you go blank, use one line. We came to talk first. Then get a drink or find a seat. You can say more later. You do not owe a biography to earn the chair.
If the night is unclear, Message host. That note is private. Do not ask a stranger in the kitchen to explain the rules.
The format is not the introduction
All mutual-yes matches are revealed, whether that happens together, at check-in, or after the short rounds. An introduction does not create a match, and it does not cancel one.
A key party shows one Play Partner at the same time. A play party reveals matches at check-in. A speed date is short rounds, then yes or no. Learn which one you are walking into before you tell a story about the wrong night.
FAQ
Do we use our real names?
Use the names you agreed to use in the room. If one of you wants a different name than at home, say that one, and have your partner use it too.
Is an introduction a yes to play?
No. A hello is a hello. Saying yes to the invite is not a yes to play. A one-sided yes stays hidden.
What if we do not know what to say?
Two names, and that you came to talk first. If the format is still unclear, Message host. That note is private.
Should we introduce the host?
No. The host knows the list. You introduce yourselves to the people next to you. You do not present the host to the room.
Which night are we walking into?
Ask before you arrive if the invite was vague. All mutual-yes matches are revealed. A key party shows one Play Partner at the same time. A play party reveals matches at check-in. A speed date is short rounds, then yes or no.
